Most of my imagery focuses on a sense of leisure and sensual pleasure, derived from nature or domesticity. In a world of instant and fleeting gratification, I am fascinated by the slow pace of daily routines, old objects, and seasonal changes. I see myself as a collector of moments that express continuity and stability through free association and the stimulation of memory. This may be why I have been called nostalgic, and I take such a statement as a compliment. Provided that we make it a driving force, nostalgia can enrich one’s sense of self, as we look lovingly towards time past, and allow it to fuel our present personal universe. We are not isolated in our most private moments, and it is this web of quiet rapture which makes up the bulk of my work.
